Rental Qualifications and Requirements
Insurance
All Inclusive / Premium Insurance:
Coverage for theft, vandalism, and collision damage.
$1000 deductible
Up to $1 million in liability insurance.

Standard Insurance:
CA$2,000 max out-of-pocket for at-fault accidents or damage claims.
Protection for third-party liability up to CA $200,000.
Accident benefits like medical and rehabilitation costs, and coverage for hit-and-run accidents

Declined Insurance:
The renter is responsible for verifying whether their insurance covers damages or theft of the rental vehicle. Without ICBC Insurance and a valid BC License, you are not eligible to select this option, and you must purchase our Premium Coverage to operate the vehicle legally.
Refueling and recharging policies
Fuel and Service Charge (FSC)
If you return with less fuel than at the time of rent,. we will service and refuel at a per litre rate. You refuel
Return with the tank at the same level as when rented or Up to $150 if not returned at the same fuel level.

Recharging Fees
Currently we are offering no charge for the recharge and you can return the EV at any charge level above 30%.
Payment options
Acceptable form of payment via the internet is limited to major charge cards.

Charge / credit cards must have available credit for the estimated amount of rental charges plus up to $500.00 in order to secure the rental.

Visa Debit cards are accepted with a $1,000 security deposit and a $9.99/day surcharge, along with full payment upfront for the rental. Visa Debit cardholders will be required to purchase premium insurance, as standard insurance will not apply.

Cash payments are accepted with a $3,000 security deposit and a $14.99/day surcharge, along with full payment upfront for the rental. In case of Cash Payment, the customer will be required to purchase premium insurance, as standard insurance will not apply.

Acceptable charge / credit cards: American Express / MasterCard / Visa / Discover.
Restrictions and requirements
Driver's License
  • Valid license from country of residence will be required at time of rental.
  • Also acceptable are temporary license or permit issued when license is lost, stolen or expired.
  • International customers renting in Canada are also required to present a valid international-issued driver’s license at the time of rent and a valid passport in the same name, as a second form of identification.

Age Requirements:
  • The minimum age to rent a vehicle is 20 years.
  • Drivers aged 20 to 24 will be subject to a young driver surcharge.
  • A valid driver's license must be presented at the time of rental.

Driver Authorization:
The Renter will not allow any other person to operate the Rented Vehicle unless identified in the agreement as the additional driver. If an unidentified person is found to be driving the vehicle and is involved in any crash or damage, he/she will be solely responsible for all associated costs and damages. Additionally, a $500 fine will be imposed for unauthorized use of the vehicle.Off-Road Policy
Our rental vehicles are intended for regular road use only. Off-roading or driving on non-paved, rugged terrains is strictly prohibited. If it is determined that a vehicle has been used for off-roading, a $200 penalty fee will be applied to the final rental cost. This helps cover potential damage and additional maintenance resulting from such use.
Breach of Agreement
Immediate Termination of Agreement: If the Renter breaches any terms or conditions of this agreement, including but not limited to:
  • Failure to return the vehicle on time,
  • Non-payment or delayed payment of fees or damages,
  • Misuse or unauthorized use of the vehicle,
  • Providing false or misleading information during the rental process, or
  • Causing damage to the vehicle due to negligence, recklessness, or intentional acts,
  • Public Rental Zone reserves the right to immediately terminate the rental agreement without prior notice.
3.2 Permanent Ban from Public Rental Zone Services: Upon breach of the agreement, the Renter will be permanently banned from renting vehicles from the Public Rental Zone or any affiliated businesses, under all circumstances.

3.3 Additional Reporting: Public Rental Zone reserves the right to report the breach to:
  • Car rental industry databases and platforms, make the Renter ineligible to rent vehicles from other service providers.
  • Local authorities or private registries for tracking rental violations.
  • Credit bureaus, which may impact the Renter’s credit score and ability to secure credit-based services in the future.
3.4 Financial Penalties: The Renter agrees to pay the following in the event of a breach:
  • A breach penalty of $500 for administrative costs and loss of revenue.
  • Double the daily rental fee for every day the vehicle remains unreturned past the agreed return date.
  • Full reimbursement for damages caused to the vehicle, including towing and recovery costs.
3.5 Personal Guarantor Liability: If the Renter provided a guarantor for the rental, the guarantor will be held financially liable for any outstanding amounts owed to the Public Rental Zone, including breach penalties, damages, or other charges.

3.6 Security Blacklisting: Public Rental Zone will retain the Renter’s personal information, including government-issued ID and payment details, to prevent future unauthorized attempts to engage Public Rental Zone services.

3.7 Recovery of Vehicles: In cases of failure to return the vehicle, the Public Rental Zone is authorized to reclaim the vehicle without prior notice. Any costs related to this process, including towing, legal, and recovery fees, will be charged to the Renter.

3.8 Future Travel Ban: Public Rental Zone may collaborate with international travel and car rental associations to restrict the Renter from accessing rental services worldwide.

3.9 Legal Enforceability and Liability: This section is governed by the applicable laws of Surrey, BC. Public Rental Zone reserves the right to pursue legal action for any losses arising from a breach, and any disputes will be resolved under the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts in Surrey, BC.

3.10 Reporting to Credit Bureaus: Public Rental Zone reserves the right to report unpaid balances, breaches of contract, or any financial penalties associated with the Renter’s account to licensed credit bureaus. Such reports may negatively affect the Renter’s credit score and ability to access credit services in the future.

3.11 No Appeals: The Renter acknowledges and agrees that all actions taken by the Public Rental Zone under this section, including termination, penalties, reporting, and bans, are final and not subject to appeal or negotiation.
Amendments, Cancellation & No Shows
Early Return or Late Return Fee
We currently don’t charge any fees for early return. For late returns, customers will be charged hourly for up to 4 hours, after which the full daily rate will apply.

For no-shows, customers will be charged the full amount of their reservation.
Fees and surcharges
Admin Fee: An administrative fee of $4.99 will be added to the rental charges.

Vehicle Licensing Fee (VLF): A Vehicle Licensing Fee of $2.49 per day will be added to the rental charges. This fee covers the cost of vehicle licensing.

Environmental Recovery Fee (ERF): An Environmental Recovery Fee of $2.49 per day will also be added to the rental charges. This fee contributes to environmental recovery efforts.

Out-of-Province Fee: For rentals taken out of the province, an additional charge of $29.99 per day will be applied. This fee covers additional insurance and administrative costs associated with out-of-province travel.Out-of-Country Fee (USA): For rentals taken into the USA, including destinations like Seattle, Portland, and Oregon, an additional charge of $29.99 per day will be applied. This fee covers additional insurance and administrative costs associated with international travel.

Cleaning Fees:
  • Standard Cleaning Fee: A fee of $70 will be assessed for routine cleaning of the vehicle upon return.
  • Specialized Cleaning Fee: A fee of $200 will be charged for specialized cleaning services, including removing vomit, severe stains, or other significant marks.
  • Pet and Smoke-Free Policy:All vehicles are pet and smoke-free. If evidence of smoking or pet use is discovered in the vehicle, an additional fee of $200 will be charged for extra cleaning and deodorizing.
Additional equipment & services
Emergency Roadside Assistance
In the unlikely event there is a problem with a PRZ rental vehicle, PRZ provides Emergency Roadside Assistance 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. The Emergency Roadside Assistance toll free number is listed on the Rental Agreement and usually on a sticker on the dashboard of the vehicle.

Child seats
PRZ offers approved safety seats. PRZ voluntarily complies with any state law that requires a child seat for a rental. If the seat is mandatory, the counter will advise you at time of rental. The child seats used by PRZ are for children weighing from 5 to 40 pounds up to 40 inches tall. Child car seats provided in Canada must be installed by the renter.
Location information
After hour pickups are not allowed.

After hour returns are allowed. Record the return date and time, mileage and tank level. Please ensure the vehicle is parked in the designated area and that the keys are placed in the drop box.
The vehicle remains the renter's responsibility until it has been inspected and checked in by our team during business hours.
Taxes
Applicable sales taxes will be applied to the rental.
